To respect the ordinary person

To respect the ordinary person

Notice to itself, the lovely prince that there is nothing more disappointingly to the person of our time and a tribe how to tell to it that it is not original, weak character, without special talents and people ordinary.

                                             (F.M. Dostoevsky, "Idiot")

Every possible periodicals, paper and virtual, specialised and not so, dazzle with messages on surprising achievements of disabled people in art, sports, in any branches of human activity where any shows are possible. The public loves sensations – journalists are glad to try. Well and at the same time do a good work – draw attention of this public to a problem, try to influence improvement of the relations in society. For disabled people, the same paralimpiyets, it is support, first of all moral. However, among the well-known disabled people is also such which do not need this support and, most likely, have no concept that such in general sensation. Such is, for example, ingenious pianist Derek Paravichini – the blind person with deep intellectual backwardness, in addition also the autist. All sensation round disabled people possessing by any unusual abilities – possibility to speak about a problem in general. Thank God, to these conversations sincerely respond both simple citizens, and officials … But there is also a back.

Our information space a little than differs from medieval fair. Hardly the majority of visitors of such fair were very malicious and cynical. No, generally, it there were in own way kind people, even religious, capable to feel pity weak and ailing. That did not prevent these kind people to go to look at representations in which people with physical participated, and at times and mental deviations – as though we have now told, «special people». However, similar occurred and much later: it is enough to remember Pinocchio Sanchez, the disabled person moving on wooden artificial limbs who earned money demonstration of tricks – he lived in XVIII-XIX of centuries and has inspired writer Carlo Kollodi on creation of an image of wooden little man Pinocchio. Well and other literary character – Guinplen from Victor Hugo’s novel «The person who laughs» – if had no concrete prototype, to its history is created on the basis of real certificates on once prospering underground business on production of live balaganny wonders. Presently business компрачикосов as though is not demanded by public, but it is necessary to remember that without certain moral efforts the modern inhabitant humanist can turn into the ancient Roman plebeian demanding from the emperor the corn and shows quickly enough.

Now looks of the public are directed on paralimpiyets, geniuses autists … other every possible geniuses or, at least, people from whom nobody expected those results which they have achieved. We constantly excite feelings of our fellow citizens is a way again and again to pay their attention to of what otherwise they, as a rule, unconsciously try to be discharged. But me, apparently, that the relation of society to disabled people should pass to a certain new quality. What do we have now? Even if speech does not go that this or that «the special person» brightly proves in society, we after all continually beat a subject of its unusual abilities. Yes, «the special person» is unique and talented. But! It it does not differ from any other person. Moreover, there are no people not special and not talented – everyone with something was presented by God. Any other opinions about it conduct to division of people into the highest – presented and lowest-dull when destiny of the second – to serve the first, and the destiny of the first – to correspond to expectations of the second. It does not remind anything to you? And so, idea about such human inequality – heresy on the verge of blasphemy. Everyone is talented – a question, in what. That it is talented is not a question. But our "exhibition", so, the undeveloped consciousness persistently aspires to a segregation on a social sign. If your talent is imperceptible for the majority of people around – you it seems as well as is dull. And if we write down someone in certain «special people», strenuously we start to look for in them any especially strange manifestations. When people learn that my son – the autist, many of them right there speak: «But after all autists – such talented». Yes, my son is talented and proves a time very unusually. But main thing not it.

The main thing that if my son has not shown those abilities which has shown, I would love it not less. And in general – the person needs to be appreciated not his any achievements. The person is worthy respect and love, as God’s creation. Even then, when it cannot entertain or surprise us somehow. And if I am not surprised to the person met by me is my problem, instead of it, it is my zashorennost. All of us need to learn to perceive world around and to be surprised. Alas, at mass consciousness there is a stereotype that the person owes all life something about itself prove – native, to neighbours, acquaintances, society as a whole … To it since the childhood it is inspired that he should live not simply on God’s precepts and be engaged in favourite business, and somewhere make the way, with someone to compete, someone to leave itself. And after all correctly say that everyone should benefit another – trouble that what this advantage, people with very narrow outlook often solve. Here these last also make the society, ready to demand from each human being of bread or shows. And disabled people – if they are not "paralimpiyets", not "geniuses" and not clowns – for such society are useless. If to you, dear readers, will seem that I too "exaggerate", I will remind: in Germany the beginnings of the last century of disabled people reproached with uselessness, that they eat with gift bread, and the idea of their physical destruction was supported by the most part of the population of this country long before Hitler’s coming to power which in this question only has supported national expectations. If you think that our Russian society is more moral, remember already our history for the last years 100 … Yes, at us disabled people did not destroy – for them have built system of the closed establishments of prison type, having got in which, it is difficult to person to declare itself even by means of any "stunning" manifestations of talent.

Undoubtedly, in our society for the last years 20 became less psychological barriers, including thanks to numerous publications about disabled people. But me it is thought, high-quality change in human relations will occur when we will start to learn to love and respect the so-called person ordinary, to be exact, when we will understand that each person – regardless of a condition of the mental and physical health – is unusual.
